The ASIAN JOURNAL OF RESILIENCE is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal of Palawan State University. AJR is a multidisciplinary publication that aims to publish original research articles and policy briefs on the environment, human resilience, and well-being, along the dimensions of the individual, society, and human-environment interaction, in the Asian context. Its multidisciplinary nature accommodates different fields of study.

AJR strives to follow publication ethics and standards by ensuring the accuracy of all the information included in the publications. However, AJR does not claim absolute accuracy and completeness of all published content. The authors solely own the opinions expressed in the publications. AJR only serves as a platform to express those scholarly views.

AIMS AND SCOPE. The Asian Journal of Resilience aims to:

Provide a multidisciplinary forum for research that enriches scholarly dialogue on resilience, adaptation, and well-being in the Asian context.

Support the development of conceptual frameworks, evidence-based policies, community programs, and practical interventions that respond to social, environmental, economic, and health-related challenges in Asia.

Share empirical and theoretical work that explores human experience, social structures, environmental systems, and institutional responses to change and adversity.

AJR’s scope encompasses research that:

Investigates human resilience and well-being directly, including psychological coping strategies, community disaster preparedness, and health behaviors during crises.

Examines social, cultural, economic, and policy issues that influence or reflect capacities for adaptation, sustainability, and human-environment interaction — even when resilience is not the central term of study. For example, studies on livelihood transitions, market behavior, local governance responses, and social experiences all provide insight into how individuals and communities navigate change and pursue stability, opportunity, or well-being.

Contribute interdisciplinary insights from fields such as anthropology, public health, education, environmental science, governance, and economics that relate to human and social development in Asian settings.

While many published articles frame their contributions explicitly in terms of resilience or well-being, others address issues such as nutrition and community health during quarantine, livelihood and cultural change, and institutional responses to social problems — all of which resonate with the journal’s overarching interest in how people and systems adapt, cope, and function in the face of change and challenge.

AJR encourages high-quality research that bridges disciplines and perspectives, fosters innovative thinking, and contributes meaningfully to understanding and improving human and environmental well-being in the Asian region.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS. Peer review is double-blind, with at least two reviewers.

PUBLICATION FEE. AJR does not charge any publication or article processing fee.
